Spotlight on Front Desk Receptionist Melissa Lindeboom

Melissa Lindeboom is a mover and shaker. So, it’s a good thing she helps run reception at our Gig Harbor clinic. Melissa is an advocate for walking. She recently won our practice-wide step competition for taking more steps in the month of February than any of her colleagues.

A Natural Helper

Caring for people comes naturally to Melissa. As a high school student she volunteered at Madigan Army Medical Center. That’s when she knew healthcare was her calling.

After high school she earned her nursing assistant’s certification. Then she gained experience in patient care at a long-term care facility. She started at Puget Sound Orthopeadics as a receptionist at our outpatient surgery center, Lakewood Surgery Center

Orthopedics is Happy Medicine

“Orthopedics is a happy place in the field of medicine,” says Melissa. “Patients who come into our offices tend to get better. Most fully recover and return to their prior level of activity. It’s so exciting and rewarding to be part of their progress.”

These days Melissa is back out front. In her role as a front desk receptionist she checks you in and out of appointments. She schedules your new and established appointments, manages referrals for Dr. Philip Yearian, and directs phone calls. Melissa enjoys quick conversations with you, getting to know you over time.

Inside of our practice, Melissa enjoys the collaborative and positive nature of our team. Highlights for her include recognizing each other’s work, being part of the employee event committee, and taking part in activities she’s planned for all the members of our organization.
